PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS WITH COMPASSION AND EVIDENCE INFORMED APPROACH
Substance use is a complex issue that affects individuals, families, businesses, neighbourhoods and public spaces.
My frontline experience working with people in recovery gives me a perspective I can bring to municipal discussions.
The City cannot solve this issue alone.
Effective solutions require cooperation among municipalities, healthcare providers, treatment and recovery services, law enforcement, businesses, community organizations, families, people with lived experience and provincial and federal governments.
At the municipal level, I would support practical approaches focused on:
Community safety
Prevention and early intervention
Clean and safe public spaces
Recovery and treatment partnerships
Support for businesses and neighbourhoods
Evidence-informed decision-making
Clear accountability and measurable outcomes
Compassion and evidence informed approaches should not be opposites. We need both.
